Death Cafe write up: Brisbane Death Cafe in the Park (in person; date change due to rain)

Very positive interactions on the day and positive feedback afterwards from attendees. One from the president of DWDQ and one from a Teacher/Yoga instructor. Please see attached image of Yoga instructor's completed Death Cafe feedback form.

The event was rated overall as excellent, normalising ones feelings about Death Cafe/life, and making one feel comfortable. It was reported that discussion went very well, with excellent facilitation and cake/drinks.

Six (6) words used to best describe my June Death Cafe: Open, Respectful, Informative, Friendly, Informative and Reassuring.

Death Cafe write up: Leuven Death Cafe

Posted by CandacePhoenix on June 20, 2026, 10:58 a.m.

This was the first time we hosted a Death Cafe in Leuven. I collaborated with the International House of Leuven and could use their cosy salon space for free. A colleague who hosts an English speaking Grief Group attended as co-facilitator. We were able to communicate on the flyer and to the grief group that this event was different from the grief support group. There were four attendees plus us two facilitators, so 6 people. The conversation flowed really well during the session. There were comparisons of how funeral rituals work in Belgium, the Netherlands, India, and Ukraine. There was also discussion of living forever, knowing your death ...

§Should we change our Western culture so that it marks the move into the last phase of life – not necessarily just when we are terminally ill, more generally as we get older? Reference made to the Hindu approach. [Problem with identifying when that is...]

§How do you encourage a family member to have the discussion about end of life (mother being ‘closed down’ by son not wishing to talk). Some suggested that humour can be a good way to enter into the subject.

Death Cafe write up: Myrtle Beach Death Cafe at Chapin Memorial Library

Posted by BLLLINK on June 14, 2026, 2:32 p.m.

We had a full house at yesterday’s Myrtle Beach Death Café at Chapin Memorial library.
This Death Café was a departure in that it was facilitated by Kris and Brian and it was focused on pet loss.
The sharing of stories about our pets as they near end of life was a profound commentary on love and respect.
This was a time to cherish the bonds that we’ve shared with our pets to honor their loyalty, to provide the same care and companionship they’ve given us throughout their lives.
We shared pictures of our pets. We shared stories of our pets, and we talked about ...

Death Cafe write up: Saturday Death Cafe Portland, OR

Posted by nomenoyou1 on June 13, 2026, 8:08 p.m.

Everyone enjoyed tea and cake before we began. We had a large group and wonderful participation at Friendly House. There were enough participants for three tables. David and Scott facilitated and Joan assisted. David can add a briefing on his table, but I thoroughly enjoyed my group. We spent a long time discussing NDE. Two attendees had personal experiences, and they explained them in detail. The remainder of the people asked many probing questions, and the conversation was intriguing. The remainder of the meeting we discussed loss and grief. There were lots of recent losses and some processing was necessary. Members were able to listen and support each ...
