Death Cafe write up: Portland, OR Thursday Evening Death Cafe

We had 14 people at this Death Cafe, our largest Thursday evening turnout in several months. The Peace House fireplace was lovely and comforting. Linda facilitated one group and David facilitated another. One table discussed the role of a death doula, the uncertainty of life, the challenges of deciding how much to involve children when a grandparent or parent is dying, how a child's experience with death at a young age can affect them decades later -- among other topics. As always, tea, cake (chocolate), gluten free vegan cookies and other treats were served.

Death Cafe write up: Death Cafe Venice FL - An Important Conversation

This event was as meaningful as ever. We had 11 people, yet each person had a chance to talk when moved to contribute.
The group consisted mainly of Unitarian Universalist members (from Venice, FL), but these meetings are open to all.
We begin by centering ourselves and bringing our thoughts to the [often difficult] topic of death, dying, our beliefs and discoveries. We shared local experiences. It was great having this even in October - a month of celebrating death and renewal.
After the event, some let me know that they'd like more information about a Green Burial, or other related topics.

Genevieve and Jim have cohosted this Death Cafe since July 2022. Men and women from USA North and South East Coast, North and South West Coast, Mid West, Canada and Australia. After intros we spoke about when we want to die and a desire to live, meaning and purpose for living, and the care for a loved one who is dying.
