We came across Tracy's details via the Natural Death Centre's website, as we wanted a Funeral Director who would give us options regarding how much input we could have.
From our first meeting with her, Tracy was professional, welcoming, knowledgeable and informative, but also open to the ideas we had as a family. Once booked, she kept in regular contact, answering our questions and helpfully liaising with the woodland burial site to ensure all was arranged and agreed.
On the day of our dad's "Celebration of his life" she arrived early, alongside family members who'd chosen to transport our dad's beautifully woven willow coffin. Tracy helped with all aspects, from ushering in guests, to playing the ceremony music, wheeling the bier to the graveside, expertly directing family members who'd offered to lower the coffin, and getting cups of tea afterwards. And all the time, being respectful, attentive and sensitive to our family's experience.
We highly recommend her, especially if you're looking for a Funeral Director who understands that your loved one's funeral really matters to you, and can give it a personal touch, instead of making it feel like it's "just another funeral" on a conveyor belt of funerals.

My wife’s funeral went exactly as she had wanted. At our meeting with Tracy before the funeral she was kind, considerate and understanding and listened carefully to our requests. We were kept well informed throughout the build up to the burial.
The funeral exceeded our expectations. We wanted a simple burial with just close members of the family to be present and for everyone to be able to participate and make a contribution. Tracy ensured that this happened. Her quiet confidence and careful explanations ensured that everything went to plan. We couldn’t have wished for anything better.
We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Tracy and Woodland Wishes.

Never having required a funeral director before, we couldn't have been luckier than to find Tracy. Right from our first enquiry phone call on the day of our mother's death, she was calm, sympathetic and encouraging. We were able to put together a beautiful celebration of mum's life with Tracy's help and thoughtful suggestions (such as using the small chapel in Cambridge Cemetery as our venue which was so much more personal than the Crematorium, which can seem like a production line). We picked a willow coffin and chose mum's favourite colours for the spray of flowers on top of the coffin. Everyone was very moved to be asked to place a single flower on the coffin as they said their final farewells. Tracy's sensitivity, understanding and professionalism guided us through what could have been the most difficult weeks of our lives, for which we will always be grateful.

Tracy came down to visit the site we had chosen for my wife's funeral and dealt with the crematorium directly and took away all the hassle of the formalities. This allowed me to concentrate on what was important to me which was to get the service right. It was in a field in a marquee and needed quite a lot of planning. Tracy assured me that I just needed to let everyone do their job and the ceremony was a brilliant success - even for such a sad occasion. I will never plan to use a crematorium or church for any future funeral as there are so many more sympathetic places to have these things and Woodland Wishes will help you at every stage to make it happen. Thank you Tracy.

We dealt with Tracy personally from the first phone call through to the graveside without the need for any other people. With her help we all moved the coffin together including lowering the coffin into the grave - a hands-on moment which the grand-children particularly appreciated.
Our wishes were respected and she helped us to achieve the very simple ceremony we wanted.
Costs were exactly as detailed on their website, and disbursements were set out clearly.

I cannot speak too highly of the way the Barton Glebe staff and Woodland Wishes helped me and my family as we struggled to come to terms with the unexpected death of Fiona, dearly loved by us all, who was the central pivot of our close family. From the first signs that something serious was wrong to her death, there were less than two weeks. In that time however she was well able to express her wishes for the manner in which her funeral should be conducted.
We had both decided a few years ago that we wanted to be interred in the Barton Glebe Woodland Cemetery, eventually side by side, though we had not done anything about it. From the first, our contact with the Barton Glebe staff was immensely reassuring. They tactfully made recommendations for choosing a funeral director and guided us towards what was undoubtedly the right choice, Tracy O’Leary of Woodland Wishes.
Tracy understood immediately what Fiona, through us her family, wanted - a humanist celebration of Fiona’s 70 years, her love for her family, her support for her friends, her many creative talents, her enthusiasms and hobbies. Fiona had given exact instructions about who should speak and on what topic, and Tracy helped us come up with an overall plan to deliver this. She also helped us choose a celebrant, and had some very good ideas about how to lay out the Lodge with photographs and products of Fiona's hobbies and handicrafts. Tracy’s suggestion that those attending could bring a flower or something simple from their gardens was just right.
When we realised that the numbers to expect at the ceremony were going to be far greater than we originally thought, she seamlessly reassured us that a marquee could be made available. She then proceeded to arrange everything with the greatest efficiency and tact - reserved seats, catering, music and so on. She and the Barton Glebe staff were so helpful on the day, setting everything up, parking huge numbers of cars, ensuring that everyone was in the right place at the right time. Nothing was forgotten, nothing was too much trouble. The only thing that I can honestly say I don’t think she managed was the weather: it was a near perfect day for November but I do not believe that even the Barton Glebe staff and Tracy could actually have fixed that up.
We have had so many letters afterwards to say that the occasion was very special, and that Fiona was given the wonderful farewell ceremony that she wanted and deserved.
Thank you, Barton Glebe and Woodland wishes, from the whole family.

Elaine specified a green funeral in her will. Because of her illness she was able to have an input into her funeral ceremony and at our first meeting Tracy 'got it' immediately. Her understanding, kindness and professionalism ensured that the funeral was all that Elaine had asked for.
My predictions of an attendance of about 75 people were wildly out and on a swelteringly hot day more than three times this number actually turned up. The flexibility and hard work of Woodland Wishes and the staff at Barton Glebe (huge thanks due here too) ensured that the day was an uplifting celebration of Elaine's life. All the colours under the sun were represented (Elaine's instructions were no traditional funeral black to be worn), the scent of lavender was in the air and Elaine's favourite track 'Walking on on Sunshine' filled the PA.
In following days I received many emails and calls telling me how much a difficult day had been turned into one of uplifting beauty.
Inevitably this was a sad time but in being able to pay our respects in such a positive and vibrant way, all that knew Elaine have been helped in our quest to deal with the untimely death of a truly inspiring person.
Thank you, Tracy, Barbara and Liz.
For anyone wishing to look at a positive alternative to the traditional, Woodland Wishes is the place to find that alternative. The place to celebrate a life in it's individuality and as it was lived.

Tracy’s care, attention and kindness when taking care of my mother and her funeral was simply excellent. She made it possible for us to give my mother the respect we wanted for her, and a burial ceremony completely free of the ghastly impersonality that so often creeps in. The Woodland burial was completely free of the feeling that time was pressured to make way for others in either preparation or on the day. It was unexpectedly uplifting and has made the grieving process for us all inexpressibly gentler.
From the moment I first spoke to Tracy over the phone I felt assured.
It was beyond helpful that she reacted swiftly and out of hours when the time came and that she came to our house to discuss details after my mother's death. I knew that all was well and would go according to the best of plans from then on. Her suggestions and careful listening could not have been bettered. I didn't feel the need to question or check again before seeing her on the day of the funeral, a relief at a time when there is necessarily a vast amount to attend to.
